Many pollutants cause cancer, pulmonary and heart diseases, neurological, reproductive, developmental, and immunological damage, and more. Examples are benzene, hydrofluoric acid, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and many, many other toxic pollutants. Refining uses many risky industrial processes.
