Last week, the Federal Highway Administration finalized an important regulation–the greenhouse gas performance measure. Currently, only 24 states and the District of Columbia have laws requiring them to set targets and track their greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.
The program has been so successful in replacing high carbon petroleum-based fuels with lower emissions vehicle fuels that interest groups from all sides of the political spectrum have come forward to demand radical changes that they argue will fix problems. It’s what CARB must do again now.
People now really are discussing the possibility of making intentional interventions to change the climate — or rather, to reduce some of the climate disruptions that are happening and coming due to human elevated greenhouse gases.
