More good news showing progress on climate change as suppliers around the world are cutting their carbon emissions significantly. To a new report by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) , The Carbon Trust and BSR , the suppliers of 89 large multinationals have cut their emissions by 434 million tonnes of carbon dioxide last year alone. This is more than the annual emissions of my home country, France.

As the Arctic is 30 degrees Celsius (50 F) warmer than what it should be right now, finding local solutions to cool down the poles suddenly doesn’t seem this far-fetched anymore. . Years ago I read a short article on how bringing more ice to the poles could help slow down climate change. A Professor of applied physics from Harvard, David Keith, was proposing a rather extreme approach to the problem.

Earlier this month, a group of former Republican cabinet members proposed adoption of a nationwide carbon price, starting at $40 per ton. That seems unlikely, however. Even the proposal’s main architect, former Secretary of State James Baker, acknowledged that he faces an “uphill slog” in convincing the federal government to act.
