The Department of Environmental Protection will be accepting applications until December 16 for the new Methane Reduction Grants Program to plug marginally producing conventional oil and gas wells. Only 10 applicants applied so far to plug 77 wells, according to DEP’s report to the Oil and Gas Technical Advisory Board on December 5. DEP has $44.4 million available from the federal Inflation Reduction Act to provide grants under this program.
