The Mifflin House and 87-acre farmstead in Hellam Township, York County, had been under threat of demolition and development before The Conservation Fund acquired them in 2022. DCNR provided more than $2 million from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund to help the organization purchase the property.

On May 23, the ClearWater Conservancy released the 2024 schedule for the eighth season of the organization’s Centred Outdoors program. Berks Nature permanently protected 131 acres of fields, woodlands, and open space in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County. The newly protected property sits within an important regional nexus of wildlife habitat on Fork Mountain and harbors two unnamed headwater tributaries to the Schuylkill River. Although not located in Berks County, the property represents a critical step forward in protecting the Kittatinny Ridge -- a conservation landscape of national and regional importance.
