In celebration of EarthDay, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful , whose vision is a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania, encourages residents to join the 2023 Pick Up Pennsylvania initiative. To help with the cost of trash disposal, DEP and Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association are sponsoring low or no cost disposal through April 30.
On April 22, more than one billion people around the world will celebrate EarthDay, which annually encourages individuals, communities, organizations, and governments to take action to protect the planet. EnvironmentalProtection Agency, each American produces approximately 4.4 pounds of waste every day.
EnvironmentalProtection Agency estimates that the average American produces 4.4 pounds of waste each day – that’s 1,600 pounds a year. Since much of this waste is in some way recyclable, a typical resident of Pennsylvania has the potential to keep more than a half ton of waste from entering landfills each and every year.
