Congress toyed with water pollution control since 1948, but 2 years after EarthDay it passed the first comprehensive federal law, ever, to control water pollution, the 1972 Clean Water Act. Water reuse involves recycling wastewater for beneficial use - for example, watering your lawn with your washing machine water.
For decades, we have been told that the only way to fix this problem was to improve recycling. Unfortunately, evidence shows that recycling doesn’t work. Fortunately, new electric cars can help with that problem, but only if they are available when people want to buy them.
