As a major emitting nation, we in the United States have a responsibility and an opportunity to reduce climate pollution, which will require swift, committed action by every sector of the economy. Done right, a transformative shift to cleanenergy can also be a tremendous boon to community well-being, public health, and the economy.
All across the country, coal- and gas-fired power plants are still running, still polluting, and still showing signs of staying relentlessly online. Through the Clean Air Act , and as affirmed—and reaffirmed—through multiple legal sagas, EPA is statutorily obligated to address carbon pollution from fossil fuel-fired power plants.
Keeping the NO x from adding to the pollution burden of the surrounding community would require changes in operation or pollutioncontrols. A plant cofiring with 30% hydrogen, for example, could generate around 17% more NO x than the plant being fueled with only gas. More water use Hydrogen production consumes water.
Now, SB 1137 protects communities by establishing a setback distance of 3,200 feet for homes, schools, parks, or businesses open to the public from new wells, and requires comprehensive pollutioncontrols for existing oil wells within the setback zone. CleanEnergy.

The Air PollutionControl Commission will later hold a “formal” public comment period at a time TBD. The rationale for this narrow focus is that the City wants these regulations in place promptly, in time for reporting in Q2 2022. The “informal” public comment period on the draft regulations will remain open until January 14.
The planning process is supported by EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program, which offers a unique opportunity to help state and local governments develop strategies to reduce harmful pollution and address environmental justice concerns, while building the infrastructure, industry, and competitive economy for a cleanenergy future.
But these outcomes would be ruinous for everyone else, failing to deliver climate benefits, propping up extraordinarily harmful and unjust systems instead of addressing their root cause, and subsidizing hydrogen production infrastructure completely at odds with that demanded by our cleanenergy future.
On February 12, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the PJM Interconnection, Inc.s Reliability Resource Initiative (RRI) proposal to fast track natural gas power plants at the exclusion of renewable and other cleanenergy projects, leaving them stuck in the permitting queue.
Pollutioncontrol is expensive and air pollution regulations are not strict enough. Ok, but can’t we make cleanenergy from burning waste? The world is trying to get away from burning fossil fuels for energy because it’s a major source of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Final Form Regulation 7-559 authorizes Pennsylvania’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) under the authority of the Air PollutionControl Act. Addressing the global climate crisis is one of the most important and critical challenges we face.
EPA is reconsidering these regulations to ensure they do not prevent America from unleashing energy dominance and continuing our trajectory as a leader in cleanenergy and emissions reductions. Technologies to treat produced water to a quality for safe discharge and reuse have become more effective and affordable.
Parents have legitimate concerns because the controls that would make this a synthetic minor source are not sufficient to ensure emissions will not exceed those thresholds.
Just a year later, however, the industry encountered a potentially major obstacle: A study conducted by the government’s National Air PollutionControl Administration found a link between outdoor NO2 exposure and childhood respiratory problems. Since May 2018, 15 of these state and regional front groups spent $3.6

Among the arguments rejected by the court was the contention that the Minnesota PollutionControl Agency erred by failing to consider the effects of climate change in its analysis of whether the project would violate state water quality standards. According to news reports, ACCR raised two major claims.
In 2019, EPA issued the Affordable CleanEnergy rule , repealing the Clean Power Plan on the basis that EPA only had the narrow authority to base standards on technologies that could be applied directly “to or at” individual power plants, rather than strategies that involve broader shifts in power sources (so-called “beyond the fenceline” measures).
