The IRA was passed into law to propel our nation’s cleanenergy transition forward. Treasury and the IRS were granted statutory authority to determine the appropriate approach to resolving these issues, and they have a responsibility to do so rigorously, accurately, and, in the face of uncertainty, conservatively.
To avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis, it’s crucial that we shift energy production away from the unsustainable fossil fuels that cause climate change and towards those that release little to no greenhouse gases (GHG), such as solar and windpower. Cleanenergy is key to national security.
Ontario has a large potential supply of wind and solar energy that could be developed to help phase-out dirty gas plants. It estimated that we would need an additional 843 MW of solar and an additional 4,545 MW of wind capacity (along with a basket of other sources) to ensure the province’s energy needs are met. .
Batteries are key to enabling the renewable energy transition. When the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing, batteries help store cleanenergy to continue supplying electricity to the grid and to customers consistently and reliably. By contrast, nearly every part of a renewable energy grid can be circular.
Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) Ed Miliband addresses the staff at the department upon being confirmed by Prime Minister Keir Starmer to head up the department on Friday 5th of July, 2024. But at the election, it was just one of many seats that Labour took from the Conservatives.
On August 9, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority announced it would be committing to the purchase of windpower and the use of cleanenergy to support the production and operations of water services. PWSA holds the largest share at 30% of the total, underlining our strong commitment to sustainable energy practices.
The Conservatives have governed the UK for the past 14 years as Labour was unseated after having won three successive elections, in the culmination of the global financial crisis. These are symbolic and cultural attachments as much as it is the challenge of putting a proper energy transition in place. Happy voting!
Battery and Flywheel Energy Storage Projects : Unlike solar PV projects and power lines, battery and flywheel energy storage systems do not currently have their own categorical exclusions.
Alberta: Speak Up For a SAFE Climate: Take Action Here How Climate Action Makes Life More Affordable Renewable energy, including solar and windpower, is much cheaper and less polluting than burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal. Previous Alberta governments provided a range of incentives.
As people around the world grapple with climate change, scientists and engineers are exploring new and exciting ocean-based solutions to generate renewable energy. Tidal energy is emerging as another cleanenergy source alongside offshore wind farms and wave energy technology. What is tidal energy?

By next year, Pennsylvania will get 50 percent of its electricity from ten new solar arrays around the Commonwealth – making Pennsylvania the first state in the country to commit to getting half of its energy from solar power.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (left) visits a hybrid power plant where “green” hydrogen is made using windpower and fed into the gas grid. Germany is not doing all it can to cut back energy use and increase economic pressure on Russia, argues Arne Jungjohann. Photo credit: Fabian Sommer / Alamy. By Arne Jungjohann.
Yet Mainers are questioning whether to accept a new 145-mile electric transmission line that will bring hydropower from Quebec into the New England power grid, removing 3.0 Million tons of regional CO2 per year, and providing energy cost savings to Mainers ($40 million per year in savings) and others in New England. What gives?
Enacted in 2019, the CLCPA transformed the state’s earlier cleanenergy standard efforts from administrative fiat to law and sets more aggressive goals to reduce statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions economy-wide to 60% from a 1990 baseline by 2030, and 15% from a 1990 baseline by 2050.
This round of upgrades will help unlock vast amounts of cleanenergy and strengthen the reliability and resilience of the power grid. Clean Grid Alliance estimates that Tranche 2.1 This is enough to power more than 3.5 Clean Grid Alliance estimates that Tranche 2.1 Dubbed Tranche 2.1, Source: MISO.
As noted in a letter to Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders from a large coalition of environmental groups: The wise stewardship of RGGI funds has ensured the deployment and use of renewable energy and efficiency initiatives. More information about the program is available here.
Offshore wind turbines also have a relatively small footprint and are able to use much larger turbines than land-based projects. Of course, to deliver all this cleanenergy from wind-rich regions in the Midwest and Plains states to major load centers in the East will also require a lot of additional transmission lines.
ERCOT also expected, during peak demand events in winter, to have power from wind represent about 27% of installed wind capacity. In its most severe appraisal of the loss of wind capacity, ERCOT expected 8% of windpower compared to capacity.

With the cleanenergy transition already under way, the US electricity mix is set to continue changing this year. Solar power is expected to make up about half of all additions of US electric generating capacity in 2023, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). I’ll start off with the good.
