On April 24, 2025, DEP was notified of a spill at the Chabal 2 conventional oil well site in Upper Burrell Township, Westmoreland County owned by Dakota Oil & Gas Company. Absorbent material and booms were in place along a path of brown staining from the release to help cleanup the waste and preventing it from traveling any further.
