Delivery Vans are Going Electric: Where and Why

Union of Concerned Scientists

Zero-emission trucks and buses eliminate tailpipe emissions and significantly reduce life-cycle pollution. This tells us which fleets are deploying electric vehicles, which types of these vehicles are being deployed, and where. UCS/S&P Global Mobility, 2024 Some states are seeing more accelerated deployments than others.

Driving on Electricity Is Now Much Cleaner than Using a Gasoline Car

Union of Concerned Scientists

Replacing gasoline with electricity greatly reduces the carbon emissions from driving. Based on where electric vehicles (EVs) have been sold, driving the average EV in the US produces global warming emissions equal to a hypothetical 94 mile per gallon gasoline car, or less than a third of the emissions of the average new gasoline car.

Electric Vehicle Sales Continue to Grow, Despite What Some Automakers Are Saying

Union of Concerned Scientists

The future of cars is electric. However, over the last month several automakers have said the transition from gasoline to electric vehicles (EVs) will need to slow down, in part citing demand. But right now, some potential buyers might be waiting to see new 2024 or 2025 models that have access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Changes to California’s Electric Truck Proposal Could Reap Huge Climate and Air Quality Gains

Union of Concerned Scientists

The Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) rule has the potential to significantly reduce climate-warming greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as well as harmful air pollutants like fine particulates (PM2.5) These trucks regularly operate along industrial corridors – areas that often flank communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution.

Solar energy output of India is reduced significantly by air pollution

Physics World

Air pollution in India is reducing the energy output of some solar panels as much as 52%. That is the conclusion of researchers who have modelled the effects of particulate pollution on solar irradiance in 2001–2018. This aims to reduce aerosol pollution by 20–30% (compared to 2017 levels) by 2024.

EPA Grant Program Helps to Accelerate Transition to Cleaner Ports

Union of Concerned Scientists

Air pollution from ports comes from many sources: ships, trains, tugboats, cargo equipment, and – quite importantly – the trucks that move cargo containers to and from ports. The funding process for awarded projects is on a quick timeline, set to be released in late 2024. Volvo Trucks.
