Yes, EV battery recycling is happening in facilities around the United States. Did the group propose recycling requirements? California is taking steps to change that.

The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on our roads has been increasing at an exceptional rate, reaching 9.5 million EVs sold around the world in 2023. At this point, there are several great options for the battery: it can be reused, repurposed, or recycled. In 2023, the median EV range reached 270 miles for 2023 models.

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the December 16 PA Bulletin prohibiting the sale of electronic devices by Wiltronic Corp (IVIEW) as a result of violations of the Covered Device Recycling Act-- Pennsylvania’s electronics waste recycling law.
