The German Federal Constitutional Court decided yesterday that the way in which compensation under the Atomic Energy Amendment Act of 10 July 2018 has been organized infringes the German constitution. By that time the nuclear power plant in Krümmel had several safety issues and small-impact incidents were discovered.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Without power grid modeling tools, the transition to clean electricity would be an absolute mess. Luckily, we don’t have to resort to guesswork because we have sophisticated grid modeling tools that help guide the transition to clean electricity. Surely that would not end well.

The EIA reports that: “Fossil fuel sources accounted for about 69% of South Korea’s electricity generation in 2019, and the share of nuclear power accounted for 25%. In 2021, South Korea set a target under the Paris Agreement of a 40% cut from 2018 levels by 2030. At the moment, South Korean climate policy is in flux.
