In 1968 one of the most iconic moments of the modern environmental movement occurred when the crew of the Apollo 8 spacecraft took the first photograph of the Earth from space. In 1970 the world’s first Earth Day was held in the US, but we had to wait until 1990 before the movement went global. This has since changed many times.
