North Carolina today gets over half of its power from fossil fuels, about 25% from coal and 33% from natural gas. Solar is at 5% and wind is under 1l%. Regarding solar power, at least 55% must come from utility-owned facilities, while up to 45% can be purchased from small third-party generators.

Ontario has a successful track record when it comes to building renewable power.
