In 2002, courts ruled in favor of the Temuan, a tribe that had been served eviction notices in 1995 by Malaysian state authorities. . Having built over 30 houses in the past few decades, the notices said, the Mah Meri had illegally infringed upon government land. The Mah Meri will be fighting the case in court, and are optimistic.

It was initiated nine years ago, but now it comes back to haunt the German government with a vengeance. In the original nuclear phase out law of 2002 the Government allocated these residual electricity volumes to each nuclear power plant in Germany so that the total output of the respective plant corresponds to an average 32 year lifetime.

According to Politico , before the current Congress, the last time a vote to approve a rule failed was 2002, under former Speaker Dennis Hastert. The 105 th Congress, under Speaker Newt Gingrich, saw five rule votes fail.

Between 2002 and 2015, the number of wells nearly doubled but they were able to pump out less and less water. The trend lines aren’t promising, so government agencies and nonprofit groups are preparing for a difficult summer in which thousands of wells could fail. The study was published in the journal Nature.

A study using longitudinal data from 2002 to 2012 confirms that courses in the social sciences and humanities have the strongest impact on promoting student voting, along with service learning opportunities and being mentored while in college. Another shared attribute was the occurrence of more political action on campus.
